Professional Biography

Dr. Kosch holds a Diplomate from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in Family Psychology and a Diplomate in Marital and Sex Therapy from the American Board of Family Psychology. Dr. Kosch has been involved in Family Medicine education since 1979 and has been an active participant in the academic organization of Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, serving on its Task Force on the Family in Family Medicine for over a decade in several key roles. Her research and scholarly interest centers around five major areas: (1) the interface of lifestyle variable and disease; (2) the interrelationship of psychosocial variables and physical health; (3) the education of physicians in core competencies, including professionalism, communication skills with patients and families, working in a health system, medical decision-making, and developing self-reflective practice styles; (4) psychotherapy processes, including a focus on individual psychotherapy, co-therapy, and couples counseling, and (5) family therapy issues, such as addressing the needs of children in divorcing families, and families with physical or sexual abuse.
