The primary goal of the University of Florida Family Medicine Residency Program is to train residents to be fully competent family physicians, who provide high quality care in a comprehensive fashion for patients. This includes wellness and preventative care, acute and chronic illness care as well as diagnosis and management of a wide variety of medical problems.
The goal includes providing continuing care in a longitudinal approach while exceeding the requirements for family medicine as defined by the ACGME Review Committee for Family Medicine. These goals extend to the care of the entire family, from birth to elder care, from outpatient to in-hospital, from home to hospice care.
