About Cody A Brown

My name is Cody Brown, DO. I am an assistant professor in the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine treating patients at UF Health Family Medicine – Springhill. My primary role as a family physician is to increase access to medical care by taking care of families and supporting their health journeys leading to the best quality of life and longevity. My clinical interests include the management of diabetes, healthy living, preventive healthcare, and osteopathic manipulation.

I incorporate osteopathic manipulative treatment, known as OMT, as a complement to traditional medical practice. OMT is a type of hands-on manipulative therapy that uses manual techniques to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, and SI joint dysfunction.

I was inspired to pursue family medicine during medical school in rural North Carolina, where I saw the impact that primary care has on communities with limited resources or access to care. I wanted to continue to make an impact like that for people throughout my professional career. I also love the diversity of patients and conditions seen in a family medicine practice… every day is different.

I earned my doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Buies Creek, NC, and completed my residency training at the UCF/HCA GME Consortium Family Medicine Residency Program in Gainesville, Florida. I am a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

When not caring for patients, I enjoy hiking on Gainesville’s trails and spending family time with my wife, daughter and Australian Shepherd.
