Shawn F Diertl,

I was born and raised in New Jersey and moved to Georgia after I finished high school. For my undergrad, I attended Loyola University in Maryland where I studied biology and ancient civilization (talk to me anytime about history or mythology!), before I finally came here to UF for medical school. While here, I was co-president of our theater group, the White Coat Company, as well as the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association. I also sang in our class rock band for our fundraising concerts.

The backbone of family medicine that drew me in was getting the opportunity to form deep connections with patients and the broader communities they come from. I value the bonds between the residents, faculty, and their patients here at UF, and I am super excited to be sticking around for a little while longer!

My specific interests include sports medicine, academics, and geriatrics. When I’m not on the clock, you can find me at rock concerts, on a hiking trail, at home cooking or baking, or doing any other nerdy hobbies like building LEGO’s, puzzles, or playing games of any sort!
