As a pharmacotherapy specialist, I collaborate with physicians and nurses to help manage patients’ medications for a variety of chronic conditions. This includes anticoagulation management for patients on blood thinners, as well as managing endocrine conditions such as high-risk diabetes, obesity, hyperthyroidism and osteoporosis. I also offer a specialized service for polypharmacy, a situation in which I utilize my expertise to assist patients who are prescribed a large number of medications and are at risk of dangerous drug interactions or unintended side effects. My focus is to offer effective and valuable services that promote patient access, overall wellbeing and comprehensive care.
I received my bachelor’s degree from the College of Science and Mathematics at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, and my doctorate in pharmacy from Auburn’s Harrison School of Pharmacy. I completed a PGY-1 residency at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka, Florida, followed by a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Florida Department of Community Health and Family Medicine and College of Pharmacy.
Throughout my training and career, I have contributed to research on osteoarthritis, diabetes, immunization and drug-related topics, and am extensively published. Additionally, I am passionate about leveraging health technologies to promote patient convenience and workflow optimization. I enjoy teaching and have been a lecturer, course facilitator and reviewer for pharmacy courses. I am a member and officer in numerous professional organizations, including the Florida Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, and continue to offer mentoring services to students in the UF College of Pharmacy.
