Crystal L Romero, MD, MPH
Assistant Professor
About Crystal L Romero
My name is Crystal Romero, MD, MPH, and I am a clinical assistant professor in the University of Florida Department of Community Health and Family Medicine. I am the first physician in my family, and was inspired to pursue medicine when my great-grandmother passed away due to metastatic breast cancer. I chose family medicine because I am passionate about providing the full-spectrum of medical care for the whole family. My philosophy is that medicine is a collaboration between patient and doctor, and I believe in patient-centered health care. My clinical interests include reproductive and Latino health, and I value providing health care in Spanish as a native speaker.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Nova Southeastern University and a Masters of Public Health at Florida International University. I earned my medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and completed residency training in the reproductive health care track at the Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.
Receiving my medical training during the height of the pandemic provided me with essential skills for inpatient medicine, as well as experience in pandemic incident command and emergency response systems. I have expertise in general medicine, contraception and family planning. I am active in the National Hispanic Medical Association and Latino Medical Student Association.
I enjoy spending time with my family, painting, cooking from scratch and hiking.
