About Elizabeth C Sanders
Hello, my name is Elizabeth Sanders, DO. I am a family medicine provider at UF Health Family Medicine – Springhill.
I love the diversity of family medicine, the complexity, and the unexpected. My clinical focus is to identify the origin of my patients’ health problems. I focus on the root causes of health issues rather than simply managing symptoms; this leads to patients feeling empowered and more in control of their health.
I am and hope I will always be curious and attentive to details. I believe that patients often know what is wrong with their bodies, and my role is to listen attentively, ask the right questions, and work with them to choose the best treatment options.
After serving the North Central Florida community for 28 years in private practice, I am thrilled to be a UF Health provider, as it allows me to continue delivering quality patient care while also contributing to the education and training of the next generation of physicians. I have always seen myself as an educator, helping my patients make informed decisions about their health, and now, I am excited to have an opportunity to mentor medical students and residents.
Being a part of the UF Health team will also give me the opportunity to support my colleagues in maintaining a healthy work-life balance, which I believe is something that is essential for the well-being of both providers and patients.
Most of my education and medical training took place in South Florida. I began my medical journey by earning my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami. I then earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Afterward, I completed an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Fellowship at the same institution and went on to complete my internship at Universal Medical Center in Sunrise, Florida. I completed my residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1996.
Outside of work, I am passionate about writing fiction. I’ve written two complete novels. I hope to find more time to write the next story I’m carrying around in my head. I also love quilting and gardening. I am building a food forest on my 3 acres of land. I plan to dedicate more time to my personal goals and hope in two years’ time to walk the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage hike in Spain.
