About Zachary J Wilkie
My name is Zachary Wilkie, and I am a doctor of osteopathic medicine at UF Health Family Medicine – Old Town. I enjoy my role as a family medicine provider, helping to guide patients as they navigate the complex world of healthcare. I collaborate with my patients to ensure they receive the most up-to-date treatment plans to treat both acute and chronic conditions, including hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, COPD, joint pain, and anxiety and depression. My ultimate goal is to identify and manage illnesses early to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations. Prior to attending medical school, I served as an emergency medical technician, or EMT, both ambulance-based and in the emergency room setting. I earned my doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL, and completed my family medicine residency in the UCF/HCA Consortium Family Medicine Residency program in Gainesville, FL. I am a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
One of the aspects of being a family medicine provider is having the opportunity to provide treatment for the full spectrum of primary care, including pediatrics, OB/GYN and internal medicine. I also enjoy establishing long-term relationships with my patients based on trust and support. My goal is to put my patients at ease with humor and transparency – this can offset and relieve any stress or anxiety people may experience during their doctor visits.
During my time away from work I love hiking with my wife and running. My goal is to visit all the national parks in the U.S. I also follow NCAA wrestling and freestyle wrestling (Olympics style), and I, of course, follow the Gator football team and am also a huge Steelers fan as well.
