Class of 2024

Elliott Botzis

Elliott Botzis MD

Medical Resident (Medical University Of South Carolina)

I am from Charleston, SC where I completed my medical school training at the Medical University of South Carolina. Prior to medical school, I attended the University of South Carolina and studied biology (Go Gamecocks!). I chose Family Medicine because I love being able to form a relationship with my patients over the span of many years. I also am interested in Sports Medicine and Academic Medicine, which makes UF the perfect place to train. I am looking forward to exploring all that Gainesville has to offer and go on frequent trips to Disney World with my wife!

Maris R Cuddeback

Maris R Cuddeback MD

Medical Resident (University Of Pittsburgh)

Hello! I was born and raised in Orlando, and I am thrilled to be returning to the Sunshine State for residency! I majored in anthropology at Fordham University in the Bronx, completed the University of Virginia’s post-bac premed program, and worked in various fields including research, education, journalism, and customer service before receiving my MD from the University of Pittsburgh. I chose family medicine because it combines my interests in health advocacy and preventive medicine, while allowing me to form lifelong relationships with the people I serve. For me, with its supportive community of faculty and residents, its location in beautiful Florida, and a curriculum that prioritizes longitudinal primary care, UF was a natural first choice for residency. In my downtime, I enjoy working on art projects, reading, exploring the swamps, forests, and neighborhoods of Gainesville, and taking a ridiculous number of pictures of my cat.

Sukhi K Grewal

Sukhi K Grewal MD

Medical Resident (Brody School Of Medicine At East Carolina University)

I was born in Canada and grew up in Michigan and North Carolina. Upon graduating from medical school in NC, I was excited to join CHFM for its strong academic program, clinic-focused curriculum and its year-round warm location. I chose family medicine because I love developing long-term patient relationships while providing a wide breadth of care for all ages. I have particular interests in academic, outpatient and sports medicine. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, running, arts and crafts, eating ice cream and spending time with my family and friends.

Casey D Hanson

Casey D Hanson MD

Medical Resident (University of South Dakota)

I grew up in northern MN before moving to Sioux Falls, SD to obtain my undergraduate degree from Augustana University and my medical degree from the University of South Dakota. I developed many interests during my time there including community health, serving underserved populations, and sports medicine. The UF Family Medicine residency program was a great fit for furthering these interests. In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching sports–especially sand volleyball!

Adam J Lazarus

Adam J Lazarus MD

Medical Resident (McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas)

I was born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I then went to the University of Alabama (Roll Tide) where I majored in Microbiology. I returned to Texas for medical school at UT Health in Houston, where I developed an interest in primary care. When interviewing at UF, I was drawn to their heavy focus on outpatient medicine, ample opportunities to pursue a fellowship in Sports Medicine, and an extremely supportive atmosphere provided by the attendings and residents. In my free time, I love watching college football, playing soccer and volleyball, and exploring the awesome local hiking trails.

Jacob A Lennert

Jacob A Lennert MD

Medical Resident (University Of Toledo College Of Medicine And Life Sciences)

My roots are split between Cincinnati, OH and Highlands Ranch, CO. I’m a proud alum of Duke University and graduated Summa Cum Laude – Phi Beta Kappa. I received my MD from the University of Toledo back home in Ohio. I chose Family Medicine because it has the greatest culture of people and life balance in all of medicine. UF was thoroughly my favorite program due to the unique clinic and curricular priorities. In my free time, I can be found trekking the wilderness of Alachua County searching for subtropical birds, reptiles, and old-growth trees. I am a blue-blooded Cameron Crazie, love my Cincinnati Reds and enjoy everything college football related.

Fatima N McKenzie

Fatima N McKenzie MD

Medical Resident

Dr. McKenzie will join the Family Medicine Residency Program in December 2021. Welcome aboard Dr. McKenzie.

Lekha S Vemuru

Lekha S Vemuru MD

Medical Resident (University Of Toledo College Of Medicine And Life Sciences)

I was born in New Jersey, but am a long time Ohioan. I completed both my undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Toledo where I was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honors Society. I was thrilled to make the move to the swamp and join the CHFM team. I am interested in full-scope family medicine with a focus on women’s health, outpatient, and underserved populations. I chose UF for their clinic-centered model, mentorship opportunities, and the genuine “family feel.” In my free time, you can find me playing volleyball, running, singing, Bollywood dancing, and hiking – or on the couch watching TV with some delicious cotton candy ice cream.

Josh D Weinberg

Josh D Weinberg MD

Medical Resident (University of Florida)

I’m originally from NY but moved to South Florida in 3rd grade and pretty much consider myself a Floridian. I have been a Gator through and through – I attended UF for undergrad, moved to San Francisco where I competed in NCAA Division II Wrestling for 2 years, and then moved back to Gainesville for Medical School and now Residency! I have grown to love Gainesville and feel proud to serve this community that has given me so much. I was drawn to Family Medicine due to my interests in holistic and integrative health. In my spare time I love to ride my bike with my dog, train Jiu-jitsu/Wrestling, practice yoga and meditation, and relax outdoors with my Fiancé.
