About Maria Elisa Lupi
My name is Maria Elisa Lupi, MD. Prior to returning to the University of Florida (UF) Department of Community Health and Family Medicine, I had the privilege to work at the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. I received my medical degree from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina. I practiced in my native country alongside my father at his clinic focused on preventative medicine, primary care, women’s health, and surgical procedures. I relocated to the United States and conducted research as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Physiology at the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute in Gainesville. After completion of a rigorous examination to revalidate my medical degree, I earned my residency training at UF in 2009 and served as an OBGYN track chief resident. I practiced at UF Health in the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine for 12 years.
I have a special interest in integrative holistic medicine, and expanded my skills with training in wellness at the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine in 2021. I received the distinguished achievement of Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine.
I emphasize the importance of disease prevention and nutrition as part of my care for acute and chronic medical conditions. When I was 18, I earned the degree of professor of Flamenco dances. My goal is to create a unique and sacred space for my patients, where I combine my passions of cooking, dance, and the powerful healing of art as medicine.
